November 9th - Indian Creek. Moab

Wendy:  Two scary words for today -- Seigfried and Roy.  Our arms were still sore from the shots, so we took a day to relax.  We had massages at the local hotel spa (feeling spoiled the whole time), and then went to a Vegas show.  The only problem was that we called last minute, and got the only 2 seats together for the Seigfried and Roy show, and those seats happen to be in "the pit", a section within the stage so the stage went all around us.  Sounds cool, huh?  In theory it is, since we were pretty much under the stage, and the elephants and white tigers were lead right past us onto center stage.  We could see the dancers and magic tricks up close, which was cool too.  Even tho' we were up close, it was still hard to figure out how they did many of the magic tricks....

Why was it scary?  Mostly because Seigfried was a freaky looking dude.  He was about 30 years older than you see in pictures, and was covered in pancake makeup that was an abnormal brown color (emulating a tan?).  He kept a big smile on his face, but up close you could see that he looked very tired, and perhaps a tad drunk.  Little Roy was much more attractive, but also covered in makeup, and had a little more spunk to him.  And then there were the elephants up close.  Did you know the animals drool and pee all over the stage as they do their tricks?  Not something you want to see up close, let me tell you.  All and all, we came to the conclusion that sitting that close to the action is something they should rethink.

November 10th - Red Rocks, Nevada

Andy:  OUR LAST DAY OF CLIMBING!  Tomorrow we head home to start preparing for the next leg of our trip.  We're very sad to stop climbing, but new adventures await....

We spent the day sport climbing at Black Corridor.  After all the great climbs we've done during the last two months, these routes we're pretty uninspiring... and it was very, very crowded.  Black Corridor is 6 feet wide and 200 feet long, with climbs going up both sides.  Imagine 60 people climbing and belaying inside the corridor and you have an idea what it was like!  And someone had the genius idea to bring their super-mean-attack-dog-Doberman with them.  Not a very good idea.  He freaked me out the entire day.

After ten routes, our fingers kill (all the crack climbing at Indian Creek doesn't prepare your fingertips for sport climbing!) and we're ready to call it a day.   So ends the first leg of our trip.... 10 hours of driving tomorrow and we'll be home.
