Andy: Yahoo! The rain has stopped, the sun is out, and the rivers are rocking. On Sunday, Morlee, Wade, and Mary went home and Steve Avery (our friend from San Francisco who will be traveling with us for the next 2 months) arrived! We left Quito in the morning for the long, bumpy drive to the other side of the Andes mountains.
We ran the Baeza to Borja section of the Quijos at medium-high water. It was a rocking and rolling class IV (some IV+) run that never let up. This run was all business, and a great way to kick start a week of harder boating. Wendy was pretty nervous most the day, but she cruised the run and got a big confidence boost :) I can say one thing for sure about Ecuador - there's no flat water on kayak runs.
