March 30 - April 5 : Heliskiing with CMH - Monashees Lodge

A week at CMH Monashee's - the steepest 'n deepest tree skiing in Canada! Nick and Megan joined us for the week of exciting skiing.  Saturday was spent on a 7 hour bus ride from Calgary to the (brand new!) Monashees Lodge in central British Columbia, Canada.  Each day for the next seven days we awake at 7:00 am, had breakfast at 8:00 am, and we'd ski from 9:00am to 5:00pm - weather allowing.  A pretty nice routine for a week!

The weather didn't always cooperate (read: rain and fog), and the skiing conditions were "variable".  Usually the first 1500 feet of a run would be nice powder through the trees.  And then we'd pay for it with the last 1000 feet to the heli pickup.  Variable forms of crud, cement, or oatmeal snow would challenge all of us.   By the last few hundred feet of each run, we'd be praying that our knees would survive each turn!

The conditions steadily improved through the week, and by the last few days the "crud" section was getting shorter and shorter.  A sweet week at CMH all and all!

A nice view the the ski terrain.  Lots of steep 'n deep trees!

Anyone for a heli ride?

Lunch time, during one of the few sunny moments

Mmmmmm, more trees

Heli skiing artwork?  One of the rare "above treeline" runs we skied.
Clearly some skiers are better at coloring-within-the-lines than others
